Construction Gear carries safety equipment for all parts of the body, so construction and other industrial workers can protect themselves on the job. We carry protection for the head, face, eyes and ears, the body, and for cuts and other minor injuries. Some of these products include a variety of hard hats, safety glasses and goggles, Hi-Viz clothing, and first aid kits.
Hard hats can both protect your head and express your personality while on the job. Our store carries hard hats with suspensions in many designs, including standard, Vulcan cowboy hat, bump caps, full brim hard hats, and hats equipped with a rain trough. All hats, unless noted, are made from polyethylene or High Density Polyethylene for the best protection. In addition, aside from solid color hats, our hats can be custom made to include logos for professional and college sports teams and can be ordered in a group to be painted with your company’s logo.
Safety glasses and goggles, ear plugs and muffs, and respirators protect other parts of the face and head. Glasses and goggles protect the eyes, although goggles offer more protection than a pair of safety glasses. Either should be used in case a work environment contains flying debris, although goggles are better suited to environments involving chemicals. For reinforcement, a face mask can be used with a pair of goggles to protect the rest of the face – but a face mask is only secondary protection. Respirators act as a filter for the nose and mouth in work environments involving loose or flying debris and chemicals. A respirator can be a half mask or a full-face mask, like gas mask; full face masks, however, filter chemicals and get clean air from a secondary source. Ear plugs and muffs can be disposable but either safety product should be able to protect your hearing. Some ear plugs muffle the noises outside so you can hear your coworkers. Others, particularly stronger ear muffs, block out most of the noise.
To protect the rest of the body, safety vests, harnesses, and lanyards are needed. A safety vest will make a person visible, particularly if workers are doing road work or construction. However, in cases a person needs to be working elevated above the ground, a harness and lanyard are both essential safety devices.
For minor injuries on the job, a first aid kit should be within the work vicinity. First aid kits can come in individual sizes – small enough to fit in a car – or as large as industrial size, with enough first aid materials for 100 people.
