Socks may seem to only be a minor form of safety protection, but a pair of good socks can make a difference between a good and miserable work day. Socks can be cushioning to be pair of boots and some can even reduce sweating. However, the material of the sock is important. If your feet tend to be cold, wool fiber is a better material, as it absorbs moisture and passes it to the outside. If your feet tend to be hot and sweaty, a moisture control sock made from synthetic fibers. For certain health conditions, like diabetes and allergies, the material is also important. Diabetics should look for socks made from a dense material but ones that have low friction and do not restrict circulation in the legs. Those with allergies should look for socks made with very fine wool or a lamb’s wool.
Our website carries socks made by Carhartt and Wigwam. Carhartt’s most popular socks are boot socks. Boot socks come as light-, mid-, or heavyweight and are made from a combination of wool and synthetic materials. Another popular design is the All Season Work Sock, which has a flat toe seam, cushioned soles, Lycra-reinforced welt tops, and nylon reinforced toe and heel. The sock is made from cotton and synthetic materials. In addition, Carhartt also carries work socks for women.
Wigwam also makes boot socks. Some designs of boot socks include Outfitter Pro; Weather Shield Pro, a combination of Merino wool and Outlast Adaptive Control fibers; and At Work DuraSole, which is treated to protect against odor and athlete’s foot. Aside from work socks, Wigwam makes hiker socks, crew socks, and Liner socks, which protect the feet from abrasions and blisters and are made with polypropylene.
