In construction or any other industrial work environment like welding or logging, a sturdy pair of work boots is a necessity. We carry steel toe and soft toe work boots for all types of working conditions by Caterpillar, Wolverine, Carolina, Georgia, Timberland, Carhartt, Red Wing, Thorogood, and Work One. Both steel toe and soft toe work boots can come as insulated, waterproof, electrical hazard resistant, slip resistant, and with metatarsal protection. The primary difference is soft toe boots are lighter in weight, more like hiking boots or for work in food processing, and steel toe boots are for harsher working conditions, like those in construction and utility work. Aside from mens boots, we have some brands and styles for women and children, as well as a variety of work boots under $70 with either a soft or steel toe.
Work boots with insulation are often insulated by Thinsulate, as well as another material like glove leather lining or Cambrella lining. Insulated boots are best suited for cold working conditions. For wet working conditions, such as outside utility or logging work, waterproof boots are better. The leather for waterproof boots is tanned or treated to be impermeable to water, and the boots are also equipped with sealed seams, waterproof liners, or Gore-Tex technology. Some boots are even both waterproof and insulated for cold and wet working environments.
Boots that are made of rubber are often needed for chemical resistance, not to be waterproof. However, in cases that a worker needs to have protection from harsh chemicals or better traction and oil resistance, a pair of overshoes or boots is better suited, as overshoes will fit over a pair of boots to protect a workers footwear from becoming damaged to water or chemicals. Overshoes and boots also have additional traction and slip resistance in case a regular pair of boots does not have enough for the work environment.
In addition, our store carries boots specifically designed for loggers, hikers, and other outdoor occupations. Logger boots, for example, have more electrical hazard protection and a steel toe, as well as an oil resistant sole with more traction.
